Camping Shower
Attempting to find ways to stay clean on trails.
Project Description
The idea is to have a PET-bottle cap that would serve as a camping shower. Using ropes the bottle would be attached on a tree. Key goal is not to damage the PET-bottle in any way. To accomplish a regulated water stream, such as a normal shower head, it's essential to balance out the pressure inside the bottle.
My plan is to achieve this using a silicone tube that will be mounted to the bottle cap. It will lead to the bottom of the bottle, that way the air can flow out of the bottle.
So far, it's easy. But what if you want to pause your showering session? Well, in order to stop the flow, we would need some kind of stop-mechanism.
Prototype no.1
The idea was simple; make two parts. One part would be screwed on a PET-bottle and the second part would revolve around it. If rotated correctly, the alignment of holes on each part should stop the water.
Reason for the spheric shape: Due to the complexity of the design there weren't many printing options. It had to be printed Holes-up. The spheric shape guaranteed, that the two parts would not touch each other.
What didn't go as planned
- It leaks. There is too much space between the revolving parts and water is escaping from the top.
- The stop-mechanism does not work. As mentioned before, it isn't tight. Unfortunately, there are severe limitations to the 3d printer I am using.
- However, I have ideas which might solve these issues
